DIY Fridays!!

I love DIY's and I especially love them on Friday's because, I'll have my friends over and we have spa weekends with DIY beauty products. Today I'm going to give you the recipe to one of my favorite DIY face masks. I think I've tried almost every DIY mask imaginable lol. But this is just probably my favorite face mask EVER! It works on all the different skin types of my friends as well, as mine. I have combination skin, some of my friends have oily skin, some have dry skin, and it works just as well on them as it does on me. It's an Oatmeal Yogurt mask. It takes maybe 4 minuets to make and is well worth those 4 minuets.
  • All you need is one tablespoon of finely ground oatmeal, I just use Quaker Oats Old Fashion Oatmeal.
  • One tablespoon of live unflavored yogurt, try to use organic it's better for your skin, and if you want a thicker mask try using plain full fat Greek yogurt. If you can't use yogurt for whatever reason, you can just add warm water.
  •  And lastly a few drops of honey, I like to add a few drops of peppermint essential oil as well, I just like the tingly and cooling feeling the peppermint gives. The honey and peppermint are completely optional.
You then mix your oatmeal and yogurt together then hold a spoon under warm water for minuet or two to make adding your honey easier. After adding the honey if you choose to add the peppermint, then do so, stir up your mask one last time then apply it to your face. Let it set for about ten minuets. You could add some cucumber slices to your eyes too, or seep a couple green tea bags in hot water then apply the bags to your eyes, (don't forget to drink your green tea it's full of antioxidants) or chat with your friends about the hot mysterious new guy at school while flipping through magazines (my choice of passing 10 minuets ;] ). So what benefits are you getting from all these food ingredients? Well the oatmeal fights dryness, builds defenses for your skin from all the proteins, and cleanses your pores. My friend Sarah's sister uses oatmeal as her face cleanser day and night, that's all she uses and she has wonderful skin. The yogurt contains zinc, calcium, and various vitamins, and if you have acne prone skin I suggest using a yogurt mask everyday after your cleanser and you should see results. The Honey is anti-inflammatory, so it will help with acne and puffiness, it's also anti-bacterial, once again helping with the acne. Honey is also a humectant, which means it attracts moisture to the skin making it useful in the management of dry skin. Lastly, honey possesses anti-irritant properties, helping to soothe irritation in skin that is sensitive, so if you have a sunburn slath it on!!! The cucumbers and green tea are also great for your skin, and talking about boys isn't bad for your skin either. After 10 minuets rinse the mask off with warm water and don't forget to add your moisturizer. Let me know if you try it out and what you think!

REVIEW: Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain

Top Twilight. Middle Fobidden
Bottom Beloved

Hi again. Today I'm going to be doing my first review, and I'm really excited.  A couple of weeks ago I decided to jump on the band wagon and try the Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains. I have three of them. I have Twilight, a deep purple-red berry color, Forbidden, an odd but gorgeous purple-orange, and Beloved, a purple berry. I really do like these lip stains, they are gorgeous and are very nice quality for the price, they are almost $8 where I live, and the packing is very nice. I love the fact they come with a lip balm on the end, I've never seen any other stain with a lip balm. The only problem with the lip balm is that it breaks off when you apply it. So you either have to pat it on your lips or do what I do and rub your finger on the balm then apply it to your lips. The stains are all beautiful, the only real problem for me is they are too dark. I would really like to try Passion and Victorian. They are both pinks, Victorian looks like a hot pink and Passion a more subtle pink. If you do get one, or you have one, and you don't like the color of it right after you apply it, before it sets too long, take a baby wipe or makeup wipe and it should come right off. The colors I have do. If you try these out or have tried them, let me know which is your favorite!

The swatches in order from left to right are Twilight, Forbidden, then Beloved.

Hi!

Hi everyone! My name is Katie. I've always wanted to try blogging but I just never did. So I thought, why let the dream slip away?  And I'm very excited! I love everything makeup and beauty related. I love fashion as well, but honestly I'm more of a beauty girl. I am so excited to jump right into this and review products, try new things and hopefully help some people out. My blog won't be about just beauty things, (everyone's got to have a break once in a while), because I'm currently decorating my new room. We just made an add onto our house and the new bedroom is mine, so I'm trying to get ideas and inspiration for it too. Blogging hopefully will open my life to new experiences and I can't wait to get started!!!
